What is the first thing you think of when it comes to the word “royal”?

More than just going for the typical gold accents and trimmings, this Modern Scandinavian home ironically has none of that, yet it displays an alternative version of modern royalty. By opting to go with our favourite vivid royal blue as the choice of accent wall colour and light wood-beige tones as the main colour palette, this home exudes royalty in the modern context, a toned down and low-key kind of royalty.

The Royal Corner

The Wing armchair is an iconic piece for lounging. When placed at “the royal corner”, it exudes rest and relaxation for an understated royalty, along with a beige throw blanket for an added snuggles. A potted plant in a rattan basket is the cherry on top as it completes and enhances the liveliness of the space.

Choose Black Trims instead

How can we strike a balance between being realistic and reaching a level of “royalty”? Creating the look of an “understated royalty” is easy when you use black trims instead of going all out and extravagant with gold trims.

The black trims are also applicable to the having black legged furniture. The TV console and coffee table are in the same Studio collection with its iconic, industrial black rounded framed legs and the raw, light wood tones. The advantage about the Studio collection is in its versatility that ensures a perfect fit. For Studio TV console, the 2 pieces are extendable for more surface space, wherever necessary. As for the 2-piece Studio coffee table set, they can be used as nested table, or separately to get more use out of it.

Comfort as the Highest Form of Royalty

When it comes to furnishings, the homeowners shared that their concerns lie in the comfort of use. Therefore, they were willing to indulge themselves in the Sho motorized recliner leather sofa in beige leather upholstery. For a low-key, minimal living room as such, Sho sofa is able to add a lot of character with its unique folds that is also the main feature for its comfort.

Café hopping can also be considered as a modern-day form of royalty. For the dining area, we see how the homeowners have selected Bloc teak dining table with Henry chairs as their choice of dining set. The warm teak wood strips is a great in creating that café vibe, along with the industrial black frame legs. Now you can dine at home while feeling you are at a hip, rustic café shop.

A Precious Space for Sleep

Moving along to the bedroom, we see how the choice of colour move from royal blue to a deep emerald green, the colour of a precious stone for the built-in wardrobe. The selected bedframe as a khaki green Ola Slim is an ideal selection for its luxuriously padded headboard and the choice of ample bed storage that Ola Slim bedframe offers. Paired with Dansk bedside table, the wooden tones add a level of warmth and modernity.

As the furnishing process was largely done independently by the homeowners, they shared that they were inspired by their friends’ home and the use of Cellini furniture in their homes, in terms of the overall aesthetics and also the comfort of the furniture. With all due diligence in furniture sourcing, the homeowners find that the style of furniture at Cellini is what suits them best. They also complimented the salesperson, Lauren for his service attitude. An overall compliment goes to Starry Homestead for doing a great job with the home and also special thanks to them in providing us with the images and information too.
